The small paintings of the title are short demonstrations that work on different aspects of each subject and introduce techniques such as washes, masking, proportion, brushwork and mixed media.

Although watercolour is Wil's medium, he combines it with pen & wash and also some monochrome work. His style is pleasantly loose and informal and he'll also explain how to use a sketchbook to take quick notes in the field.
